‘Let’s Make Christmas Special’ – Local Toy Appeal Returns to Support Families in Need

The much-loved annual Toy Appeal is back! Running from 9th to 27th November, the mission is to help make Christmas special for families going through a difficult time this year.

Last year, Alsager Community Support and Alsager Tangent came together and, with the help of many other organisations, were able to ensure that 201 children received gifts, supporting 105 families in total. This was made possible by the donations of local people - a true reflection of the kindness and generosity within the community.

This year, the need is greater than ever. It is becoming increasingly difficult for families to keep on top of the cost of living, particularly during the winter months when there is rising household bills and Christmas just around the corner. Naturally, parents and carers do not want to compromise on the Christmas magic, but this can become a huge strain on families.

Therefore, Alsager Community Support and Alsager Tangent are coming together once again to help alleviate this stress on households in the local area. The Toy Appeal will be providing new gifts for children aged 0-16, to make sure every child wakes up to something special on Christmas morning.

There are various collection points in Alsager and surrounding areas, making it easy for anyone to drop off a donation. These drop-off points can be found in the poster attached, as well as information about cash donations, and the link to our Amazon wish list if you prefer online shopping. This year, we even have help from Starbucks and Scrivens in Alsager, where you can pick up a tag from their gift trees to support the appeal.

We’re asking local individuals, families, and businesses to get involved if they can. Toys, books, crafts, gift cards, or something special for a teenager – every gift, small or large, makes a difference. You can also donate gift tags, gift bags, wrapping paper and Sellotape.

Even the smallest gesture, like a present under the tree, can remind somebody going through difficult times that their community truly cares.

Alsager Community Support is located at 19-21 Crewe Road, Alsager, ST7 2EW. The entrance is located on the left-hand side of The Vault (immediately to the right of Sainsbury’s).
