About Us

At Alsager Community Support, we believe no one should face life’s challenges alone. That’s why we provide a free, local and confidential service for people in Alsager, Scholar Green, Rode Heath, Church Lawton and the surrounding areas.

Our History

ACS began with a simple yet ambitious vision, by its founder Liz Pinkney, who founded the organisation in 2015. Liz in the beginning had a small team of volunteers and has laid the groundwork with dedication, passion and determination. ACS has grown to become a cornerstone of the community, providing essential services and support.

Reflecting on its incredible journey, ACS began with the help of members of Alsager Community Church, applying for a Big Lottery grant enabling a portacabin on Fairview car park to be purchased to house what was then known as Alsager Community Support Centre, and the foodbank. Over the years, it has flourished, securing a new premises on Crewe Road to meet the increasing demand for its services.

Our Awards

The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities. It was created in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of the Queen's Coronation, and is the MBE for volunteer groups.

In 2022 ACS was awarded the Queens Award.  ASC Manager Liz Pinkney, the Trustees and a selection of our volunteers were delighted to accept the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of their ‘great and valuable service to the community’. The event was also attended by many local organisations and representatives from Cheshire East Council.  The award was presented by Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, Lady Redmond MBE, who praised Alsager’s army of volunteers, describing them as ‘quiet heroes’ and Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, Joelle Warren, also gave a speech commending the efforts of the volunteers, as did Philip Williams, Chairman of Alsager Town Council.
